HerZien is aimed at members aged 18 and older who are looking to connect with others in similar situations. The cause of vision loss does not matter; everyone is welcome. The support group offers a safe and familiar environment where participants can share their stories, build self-confidence, and find practical solutions for everyday life. As a result, many participants feel less alone.

The discussion group meets online via Zoom once every three weeks on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Each session lasts an hour and a half. The series runs from February 17 through June 16, 2026. Participants attend three or four sessions and then leave, ensuring that there is always room for new participants and that the group remains open and dynamic. After the summer break, the group will resume, and if there is sufficient interest, the association will organize a live meeting for all participants once or twice a year.

HerZien is led by Afke Middelkoop and Ruud Nobbe. Both are experts by experience and have extensive experience in facilitating groups. Before the program begins, they will contact each participant by phone to get to know them and discuss their personal needs.
