You can participate in online Oogcontact meetings via your computer or phone. So you don’t have to go anywhere. It’s an accessible way to meet other members and get information from professionals.

What are we going to do?

During this Online Eye Contact Meeting, we’ll discuss seeing with one eye and how an eye patch can sometimes be a helpful tool in that regard. Would you like more information about eye patches and to ask questions of people who wear them regularly? Then join us for this interactive session on Tuesday, February 25, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This session may also be of interest to parents of children who see with one eye.

After all, when might you need an eye patch?

  • The first 6 weeks after an eye removal surgery.
  • If you experience discomfort from light entering the affected eye.
  • If your vision is impaired to the point that you see double or notice spots.
  • If the affected eye does not look good cosmetically.
  • If you are experiencing (temporary) difficulties wearing an ocular prosthesis.
  • If you’d rather not wear an eye prosthesis at all.

(Inter)active meeting

When you sign up, you’ll receive a set of special fabrics (to look at and feel) that are suitable for making eye masks. Member Rianne Rams, founder of the Eyepatch Shop, will give a short presentation and explain more about fit, ventilation options, and the different fabrics.

Boarding begins at 8:45 p.m.

Is the topic of “eye patches” not relevant to you? Feel free to join the meeting at 8:45 p.m. Because after the break, we’ll continue our discussion about seeing with one eye in everyday life—both with and without an eye patch.

Program:
8:00 p.m. – Digital drop-in
8:15 p.m. – Start of the gathering with the theme “Eye Patches.”
8:45 p.m. – Break and check-in
8:50 p.m. – Opportunity to get to know each other better and share experiences.
9:30 p.m. – Closing.

We’re counting on you to come

We’ve noticed that people sometimes confuse an online peer support meeting with a webinar. This meeting is NOT a webinar that is recorded and can be watched later. This is an online peer support meeting where we’ll have a conversation with one another. When you register, we assume you’ll be attending. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you’re unable to attend at the last minute, please let us know by emailing info@ver-ooginoog.nl. That way, we won’t be waiting for participants in vain.

Zoom User Guide

If you participate in the online session, you’ll receive a helpful guide in advance. You can register for this Oogcontact session through February 24. The Zoom link will be sent by 2:00 p.m. on February 25.
