Research on Loneliness
13 March 2026
Since September, more than 100 adults with visual impairments have been participating in the “Eenzaamheid in Zicht” study. But they’re still looking for 200 more participants!
Research on Loneliness
People who do not experience loneliness are also welcome to participate—in fact, we’d love to have them! This study is being conducted by the Robert Coppes Foundation, in collaboration with Amsterdam UMC, the Oogvereniging, Koninklijke Visio, and Bartiméus.
They are seeking answers to four main questions:
- How common are these three forms of loneliness among blind and visually impaired adults?
- What factors are associated with these feelings of loneliness?
- How are these forms of loneliness experienced?
- What helps? Which existing support methods are effective—and which ones can offer added value?
