The map is currently available for a limited number of conditions, including hip and knee surgeries, cataracts, and diabetes care. In total, there are thirteen treatments for which patients can compare volumes.

The development of the volume map is part of a broader movement toward greater transparency in healthcare. By providing insight into treatment volumes, the Patient Federation aims to give patients more control over their healthcare choices and contribute to better quality of care.

At the same time, there has been some criticism. Experts point out that volume is only one aspect of quality and that additional data is needed to get a complete picture. The Patient Federation acknowledges this and urges patients to always combine the volume map with other sources of information.
