What is the OOG in OOG Association?

The OOG in OOG Association is the leading patient organization for people who:

  • seeing with one eye, and/or
  • wear one or two eye prostheses, or
  • to have an eye removed,
  • or are associated with (congenital) eye conditions such as microphthalmia, anophthalmia, or retinoblastoma.
  • We provide independent and reliable information about eye removal, eye and orbital prostheses, and living with one eye.

We bring together people who speak Dutch. Everyone is welcome—from children to adults, as well as partners, parents, and loved ones.

What can we do for you?

  • Peer Support & Community
We organize gatherings—both online and in person—for peers: children and teens, adults, parents, and partners. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with others who are going through the same experience. This can offer comfort, a sense of recognition, and support.
  • Information, Advice, and Support
As a member, you’ll receive Oog in Oog Magazine three times a year. You can count on reliable information about eye removal, types of ocular prostheses, care and maintenance, living with one eye, and practical tips for driving, working, studying, playing sports, and school. Through our newsletter and social media, you’ll stay up to date on news, tips, and stories from fellow members.
  • Help with Practical Questions
We’re here to help with questions about eye removal, prosthesis fitting, choosing between a plastic or glass prosthesis, maintenance, polishing, and any issues you may encounter. Through our volunteer teams, we’ll connect you with people who understand your situation.
  • Advocacy & Visibility
We advocate for people living with one eye or an ocular prosthesis: we inform healthcare providers and collaborate with medical professionals, ocularists, and orbital specialists. In doing so, we also strive to contribute to better care, greater understanding, and increased visibility for your situation.
