Zoë Wins Korfball Championship at Ahoy
Zoë Kraaijeveld (18) was barely a year old when a tumor was discovered in both of her eyes as a result of retinoblastoma. Her disability—she has only limited vision in one eye, and the other eye is an artificial eye—has not hindered her athletic career.
Korfball Hero Despite Retinoblastoma
Recently, she, along with her twin sister Bo and her teammates from PKC/Vertom A1, stepped off the court at Ahoy as the national indoor korfball champions.
Zoë has actually turned her disability into her strength. “Doctors have often told me, ‘You can’t do this, and you can’t do that.’ By sticking to what I wanted and still want, by following Bo’s lead in what she did, and by believing that I can do it too, I’ve always succeeded. For me, it’s a matter of doing everything I want to do and then seeing if it’s possible.”
