Works on: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, HomePod, and Apple TV
The Reminders app comes pre-installed on almost every Apple device. With this handy app, you can create various lists to keep track of tasks, reminders, and shopping lists. The great thing is that you can share a list with others, such as your partner or family. Everyone can then add items to it, and the list stays up to date for everyone.
Even more convenient: you don’t even have to pick up your phone. With Siri, you can add something to your list with just one sentence. It’s perfect when your hands are full or you just want to quickly jot something down.
Making a grocery list
- Open the Reminders app.
- Tap the icon with the plus sign in the upper-right corner of the screen. This is the ” New List” button.
- Give your list a name, such as ” Groceries.”
- Would you like to? If so, you can choose a color and an icon for the list. This is optional.
- Tap ” Done ” (or ” Save“) to save the list.
You have now created a list named ” Groceries.”
Add Items with Siri
Say to Siri, on any Apple device:
“Hey Siri, add eggs to my shopping list.”
Siri understands that you’re referring to the ” Groceries ” list and adds eggs to it right away. You can repeat this as often as you like, with any item you can think of.
Sharing Your List with Others
- Open the list you want to share.
- Tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner.
- Invite the person you want to collaborate with.
From that point on, you can both add items to the list and check them off. Everything is updated automatically, so you’ll always see the same list. This is handy when grocery shopping: if your partner adds something to the list while you’re at the store, you’ll see it appear right away.
