They have now announced on their website that they will no longer hold any consultation hours in Bussum in 2023. Clients are asked to travel to Germany or to mail in their ocular prostheses. This ocularist also no longer has a contract with health insurers, so patients must pay the cost of the prosthesis—€720 (by mail) or €780 (in person)—in cash. Patients can submit these costs for reimbursement to their Dutch health insurer themselves. It is advisable to contact your own health insurance provider in advance to verify this.

This is a dramatic development for people who wear glass prosthetic eyes, and our association will investigate what options are available to resolve this major problem.
