New ocularist for glass prostheses
Good news. There is an ocularist who specializes in glass ocular prostheses and is expected to begin seeing patients in the Netherlands starting in December 2023. His name is Benjamin Flettner.
Meet Benjamin Flettner
Until recently, he worked for Müller, but he is now starting his own practice in the Netherlands. Just as with Müller, patients will have to pay for the consultation with Benjamin up front, after which they can file a claim with their own health insurance provider.
Benjamin will be holding consultation hours in Maastricht, Arnhem, Rotterdam, and Zuidlaren. Do you have any questions or would you like to make an appointment? If so, you can contact him at bflettner@gmx.de. He can be reached by phone at: 0049 17135 38285. His website will go live soon: www.flettner-kunstaugen.de
In the first issue of 2024, you can read an in-depth interview with Benjamin in our Magazine. In this Online News section, he’ll briefly introduce himself to you:
“In 2003, I began my training as an ocularist at Müller Söhne in Wiesbaden. I successfully completed this training in 2009. As a certified ocularist, I have since worked in 8 different countries. As a result, I speak Dutch and English fluently. I specialize in crafting and individually customizing glass ocular prostheses. In addition, I have learned how important it is to also pay attention to the psychosocial aspects of receiving an ocular prosthesis. For most people, the loss of an eye is often a traumatic experience. I always try to empathize with the patient’s situation and take their interests, wishes, and needs into account. As a qualified ocularist, I strive to restore the client’s appearance, which helps people gain more self-confidence and improves their quality of life.”
