This allowance takes effect immediately, that is, as of February 18, 2025. The temporary allowance is valid through December 31, 2028.

Tebentafusp is intended for the treatment of HLA-A*02:01-positive adult patients with inoperable or metastatic uveal melanoma. This rare and aggressive form of eye cancer affects more than 200 people each year. Tebentafusp activates the T cells in the body’s own immune system to fight tumor cells in the eye. It has been proven effective and has been covered by insurance in neighboring countries for some time, but until now it was not available in the Netherlands. For the first time in the Netherlands, a medication for this disease is becoming accessible to patients through insurance coverage.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this milestone, and we hope that this decision will set a precedent for faster and more efficient access to innovative treatments for all rare and aggressive forms of cancer.
