When Bonita heard that the association’s activities—such as the day at Avifauna she spent with her family—are funded in part by donations, she wanted to do something right away. She immediately got to work with her iron-on beads.

“At first, I thought I’d just make hearts, but then I started making flowers, butterflies, and other shapes,” she says with a laugh. People could give whatever they wanted. Those who donated more received a larger piece of art. Family, neighbors, Grandma’s coworkers, and even strangers joined in.

Bonita has one clear wish: the money must go to a good cause. “I’d like the money to go toward something for children,” she says. “But the most important thing is that it’s put to good use for people who have an ocular prosthesis.”

Her mother adds: “It was also nice that Bonita was recognized as the big sister,” says Jolanda. Bonita hopes others will follow her example: “It would be great if you’d also like to get involved with the association or make a donation, even if it’s just 1 euro. Together, we can go a long way!”
