From now on , you’ll find the “Read Aloud” button at the top of every page on our website . With a single click, ReadSpeaker can read the text on the page aloud. You can follow along with the text while listening and decide for yourself how to use the read-aloud feature.

The player’s features

  • Start and pause the text-to-speech
  • stop reading aloud
  • Restart reading after pressing the stop button
  • the “skip” buttons to fast-forward or rewind the audio
  • Adjusting the volume
  • Adjust the reading speed
  • Close the player

What options can you find in the menu?

If you click on the three dashes, you’ll see the following options:

  • Keyboard Mode
  • Click and read
  • Enlarge text
  • Text Version
  • Plain text
  • Hide Page
  • Download MP3
  • Help with translation
  • Help

What can you do when you select some text?

When you select text with your mouse, a pop-up menu appears with the following options:

  • read aloud
  • dictionary
  • translate
  • plain text

Please note: These features are only available if you can select text on the page. This may not be possible if you are using only keyboard navigation.

Read Selected Text Aloud

Would you like to listen to a portion of the text on a page? Select the text and click ” Read Aloud ” in the pop-up menu.

Dictionary

Would you like to look up a word in the online dictionary? Select the word and click ” Dictionary in the pop-up menu. A pop-up window will open with an explanation of the selected word. If you’ve selected more than one word, you’ll only see the definition of the first word.

Translate

Would you like to translate some text? Select the text and click ” Translate” in the pop-up menu. A list of languages will appear, and you can choose the language you want to translate to. The translation will appear in a pop-up window.

Plain text

Would you like to simplify the text? Sometimes texts are complicated because of difficult words or long sentences. The ” Simple Text ” feature helps make the content easier to understand. ReadSpeaker can simplify a text so that the most important information is easier to read and understand. You can simplify the text by clicking next to the Read Aloud button, click “Simple Text” , and you’ll get a summary of the page. Do you just want a summary of a specific part of the page? Then select the text and click Simple Text. Here, too, you’ll see an easy-to-understand summary of the selected text.
