Furthermore, they rate both their physical and mental health more highly: work provides structure, fewer financial worries, and a sense of purpose. The Dutch Patients\u2019 Federation observes that people are generally happy when\u2014if their illness or condition allows it\u2014they can continue to contribute to society. That is why the question \u201cCan I keep working?\u201d ranks among the top three topics they are most concerned about when they are told they are ill.
