From now on ,<\/strong> you\u2019ll find the \u201cRead Aloud\u201d<\/strong> button at the top of every page on our website .<\/strong> With a single click, ReadSpeaker can read the text on the page aloud. You can follow along with the text while listening and decide for yourself how to use the read-aloud feature. <\/p>\n

The player’s features<\/h2>\n

  • Start and pause the text-to-speech<\/li>\n
  • stop reading aloud<\/li>\n
  • Restart reading after pressing the stop button<\/li>\n
  • the “skip” buttons to fast-forward or rewind the audio<\/li>\n
  • Adjusting the volume<\/li>\n

    What options can you find in the menu?<\/h2>\n

    If you click on the three dashes, you’ll see the following options:<\/p>\n

      What can you do when you select some text?<\/h2>\n

      When you select text with your mouse, a pop-up menu appears with the following options:<\/p>\n

      • read aloud<\/li>\n
      • dictionary<\/li>\n
      • translate<\/li>\n
      • plain text<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Please note: These features are only available if you can select text on the page. This may not be possible if you are using only keyboard navigation. <\/p>\n

        Read Selected Text Aloud<\/h3>\n

        Would you like to listen to a portion of the text on a page? Select the text and click ” Read Aloud<\/strong> ” in the pop-up menu. <\/p>\n

        Dictionary<\/h3>\n

        Would you like to look up a word in the online dictionary? Select the word and click ” Dictionary <\/strong>” in <\/strong>the pop-up menu. A pop-up window will open with an explanation of the selected word. If you’ve selected more than one word, you’ll only see the definition of the first word. <\/p>\n

        Translate<\/h3>\n

        Would you like to translate some text? Select the text and click ” Translate” in <\/strong>the pop-up menu. A list of languages will appear, and you can choose the language you want to translate to. The translation will appear in a pop-up window. <\/p>\n

        Plain text<\/h3>\n

        Would you like to simplify the text? Sometimes texts are complicated because of difficult words or long sentences. The ” Simple Text<\/strong> ” feature helps make the content easier to understand. ReadSpeaker can simplify a text so that the most important information is easier to read and understand. You can simplify the text by clicking next to the Read Aloud<\/em> <\/strong>button, click “Simple Text”<\/strong><\/em> , and you\u2019ll get a summary of the page. Do you just want a summary of a specific part of the page? Then select the text and click Simple Text<\/strong><\/em>. Here, too, you\u2019ll see an easy-to-understand summary of the selected text. <\/p>\n
